Nice use of the d-rib - I also tied similar with micro-tubing with small wire threaded through it.
Money 🤘🏻
What an awesome caddis pattern, is it just me or are the recent Caddis patterns getting buggier and buggier? I love it!
What the name of that cdc tool that ur using ?
Отличная работа,класс👍
It is also a good dragonfly larvae (mudeye) imitation
The support and encouragement shown here are uplifting. It's like having a sisterhood of thinkers cheering each other on.💋
$200 in tools to tie a Grasshopper. I don't think so...
It’s waaaay more than $200
You think you could interchange the silver bead for a nickel one?
Is there a way to use that Marabou technique to make a tail for a wooly bugger streamer ?
I learned a lot from this.
The Dungeon is a fly you absolutely want in lure box in New Zealand! I've trip some big brownies in place people would never have expected with that fly, when "traditional" lures would have just been ignored. Kelley Galloup gave us a monster when he tied this fly! Olive with a yellow body!
Oh man, I tried that ramp two bow entrance last week. Must’ve taken a sharper angle because I just about dumped us into the eddy! 😂
What size is the holographic tinsel. I looked at the link for the materials and it lists flashabou for the body not tinsel?
this is so interesting, want to do it with like height
Eh..... I'm not sure about those office labels. Seems like an easy way to lose one and watch all of the data fall into a cloud of mystery all over again. Maybe not if you use special bags to organize your reels but a tons of us just throw it in the backseat with the rest of our junk before an outing. I really think the info should be detailed somewhere 'on' the reel itself, or on the line itself. But in this case it also needs to hold up to the elements. I'm thinking oil pen? I wish there was a better way.
Thank you for experience of learning new dubbing styles! Was looking for this exact way for some flies I'm doing up for a friend 🙌
Excellent Threadfin Shad imitation. I would call that blue marabou a Turquoise blue.
Would love to see a video of how you carry your gear on the river.
One of your best tutorials. Having all the bobbins together really helps when comparing them. I've had turkey flats since I read AK Best's books, but rarely use them. Now I'll give them a try. Finally, the marabou wrapping sequence is a great help also. Do you ever use a dubbing loop to reinforce a marabou wrap?
What does your leader formula look like for fishing a slip indicator? Are you just using a tapered leader?
no, when fishing below an indicator you want to have a flat section of leader non tapered. tapered leader will have a bow in it and won't be hanging directly below the indicator at the depth that you should have set.
Very helpful video. I recently purchased the new Airlock Centerlock indicators from your shop and they have an optional wide channel. Is this for the breakaway use case for deep presentations that Lance describes?
I haven’t used a center lock for this purpose, so I cannot confirm that they work as a slip indicator. I’ve heard they can be used as a slip indicator but haven’t yet tried them as such.
no big channel is for thicker part of higher test leaders. the thinner slot is for thinner leader. the airlocks are not a breakaway style indicator, phil rowley makes a specific breakaway indicator, but you can modify a trout magnet one to get the same effect.
@@robgrubb420 that makes sense but their marketing says this: “DEEP SCREW CHANNEL FOR FREE-SLIDING BETWEEN STOPS OR FOR BREAK-AWAY RIGGING.”
I was just in your shop today
Now go 30mph down a corigated dirt road..not a parked grocery getter prove it works
super dorky and odd-ball question but...what kind/brand of pants are you wearing?! haha I fish a lot after work in my blue jeans but it gets mighty hot. I've got a couple pair of "quick dry" nylon that are nice on the warmer days!
I don’t remember for sure which brand but they’re definitely quick dry/nylon type pants. I’d steer clear of jeans for fishing. I think these are either Simms or North Face.
@@Lanceeganflyfishing Thanks man! Have a great weekend!
Excellent fly tying directions, easy to see and follow, I have learned more from this tutorial than I have in 10 years of watching other posts. Thanks.
Great video ! Balanced leeches on indicators my go to killer rig . Sometimes I’ll put a chronomid up higher on a dropper, but for the most part I Like a single fly leech pattern.
So… bobbers?
Not quite , but same principle. They work!
Yeah, looks like the "trout magnet" bobber.
Indicators are bobbers. Same thing
Yes. Indicators = bobbers = suspension device = strike indicator. Call it what you will, it still does the same thing. 🙌
Dude… Lance Egan is more of a fly fisher than you’ll ever be. You can learn, or you can think you’re already somehow better.
Merci & renzetti bobbins
Need to do a mini youtube competition just like you would on team fly fish USA against Lance AND Devin.
I would love a skill builder for Trout Spey.
Learned a lot. Thank you!🎏
Tiemco used to sell a Master's Bobbin that was wonderful, with different interchangeable tubes. Unfortunately, that one is no longer available (but if you find one on eBay, buy it). I'm one of the few (based on what I see online) who likes the Tiemco magnetic bobbin; once you figure out how to adjust the tension, it works great, but it isn't symmetrical, so if you're spinning the bobbin regularly, it's slightly awkward. And Kopter makes a bobbin specifically for split thread tying, which I also like a lot, but only when I'm working with that technique. This is a terrific video, but the whole 15 minutes (and more) could have been on bobbins.
I sure love saving these videos to my little library! Thank you guys 😎
I understand why fish mistake these for insects now
Thats a streamer
Wait no sorry it looks like a wooly bugger so i mistook it for a streamer
No thnx on the music
So fire
These skill builder videos are brilliant you really do pick some brilliant tips !
Thanks mate!
Renzetti ruby tip midge bobbin is definitely my favorite for tying dries and nymphs. You guys love Renzetti vises, but don't hear too much about their bobbins.
I own Renzetti products. I think they’re overpriced but due an adequate job. Bobbins are simple, effective, smooth and reliable. My choice for beginner , intermediate and advanced.🤙🤙
Somehow, I end up here every single day
Thanks, Cheech, for another great video. As for bobbins, I like my cheap-ass Cabela's Matarelli- style, Tiemco and Stonfo with its brass thumb rest. The part showing how to palmer Marabou was a good tutorial ; something I struggle with.
If you have bobbin holders that don’t spin well because they are too light, you can add weight inside the spool. I use those flat twist-on weights but thick lead wire will work. Wrap the wire or twist-on in a spiral just a bit thinner than the width of bobbin hole, then insert it & center it within the hole. After threading & mounting the bobbin in the holder, tie the thread on a hook & give it some test spins to check that it’s balanced. The turkey flat use for wings, especially parachutes, is pretty nifty. (Psst, Cheech - you are out of stock on cream/white turkey flats.) The way you demonstrated tying in the marabou is exactly how Jack Gartside taught his students how to tie in the marabou for his Soft Hackle Streamer. Nice!
With bobbins, it’s not the weight. It’s that it only has an arm on one side. It’s not balanced at all.
My one arms have enough weight and spin evenly. Maybe it’s a difference in the brand.
I can NOT hold my bobbin like Galloup! haha Maybe one day I'll be that good!
😬😬😬
Turkey flats, I always wanted to use those for some sort of fish tail. Like a bluegill or perch fly.
Nicely done Cheech, and you make doing a post look incredibly easy. Thanks so much.☕️☕️
I’ve used them all over the years and still go back to the Rite bobbins, my favorite. I do however like the new Stonfo streamer bobbin with the weight for holding materials with just a few wraps.
Nice!!! Tight lines🐛🐜🕷️!!!!
Love your skull wax. Where did you get it? Tight lines🐛🕷️🐜!!!!
I love these skill builders! I’m learning new hacks right and left! Thanks!😊
Would love to see some tips for production tying.
Lots of caffeine and patience. That’s all!
